Undone (The Guardians) by Jessica Roe

Nicky has just been released from jail. He has no job, nowhere to live and no one will give him the chance to prove himself. 
After being turned down for another job, he runs into Walker, a young woman who has been following him. When she offers him a job, he has little choice but to take it. He is soon sucked into a world he never knew existed, full of magic and strange creatures. To make things worse is ex shows up, and she's playing for the other team.
Witty, well written and entertaining. Definitely worth reading.
