Ghosts in Folklore

Most cultures include ghosts in their local legends and folklore. Some of the more well known stories include:

• The Grey Lady - is said to haunt the Dark Hedges in Northern Ireland, made famous in Game of Thrones.
• The Banshee - a wailing woman said to predict the death of those who hear her.
• The Headless Horseman - made famous by the story of Sleepy Hollow, the horseman would be seen riding without a head, or carrying it under his arm.
• The Bell Witch - an invisible entity that attacked a family in the 1800's.

There are also many stories of the ghosts of famous people including Anne Boleyn, Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill. 
While the source of many of these stories could be fantasy, overactive imagination or simply mistaken identity, the stories of ghosts persist to the present day. We will always be fascinated by the prospect of ghosts until they are either proven or disproven definitively.
