Young adult novels like Hunger Games and Divergent are now on the silver screen but how do the films compare to the books? Converting a 250 page book into a 2 hour film means cuts and changes have to be made while still attempting to stay true to the story that the fans love. Before they even make it to the screen, the characters are already alive in the minds of the readers. They have their own idea of what they look like and how they act and they can become upset if the actor portraying them doesn't live up to their expectations.Movies however bridge the gap between people who read and people who prefer a more visual form of storytelling. Rather than choosing one over the other, it is better to treat them as two versions of the same story and enjoy them both. Comments are closed.
